Other Remarks:
Words from Michael Jackson:
Where the RIVER LOSSIE approaches the malt whisky town of Elgin. thereare no fewer than eight distilleries within a fear miles.
Glen Elgin is not the nearest to the town whose name it bears, butclose enough.
There are some excellent whiskies in this stretch of country,: andthe sweetish Glen Elgin is one of them. The distillery was founded in 1898-1900,and rebuilt and extended in 1964. The malt is an important component ofthe White Horse blended whisky. Glen Elgin has been available as a 13-year-oldsingle
malt in an official bottling for some years. In 1991, a new officialbottling was introduced, still at 13 years old, but with
no age statement on the label. The new bottling seems fractionallypaler and slightly less smoky in the nose, with some dryish sherry notes.House style Honey and tangerines. Restorative or after dinner.

From the Whisky pilot by Uniqum Systems :
Glen Elgin was designed by Charles Doig and was one of the last distilleries to be constructed before the large blending company Pattison Ltd. went bankrupt. A very compact distillery, due to a shortage of capital when it was built.
Built between 1898 and 1900 by a partnership of William Simpson, a former manager of Glenfarclas, and James Carle, the local agent for the North of Scotland Bank.
Production began on 1 May, 1900. Acquired by SMD in 1930. Extended from two to six stills when rebuilt in 1964.
The distiller's licence is held by White Horse Distillers Ltd. Now part of United Distillers plc.
Glen Elgin is an important constituent in the White Horse blend.
